Independent national electoral commission (INEC) has considered the postponement of governorship and state house of assembly election to march 18 2023.
The election was scheduled to hold on 11th march 2023,INEC chairman prof Mahmood yakubu and his commissioners announced the postponement after having a closed door meeting at 7pm yesterday Wednesday 8th march 2023 over the forth coming governorship and state House of assembly election.
Report had it that the postponement was specifically due to the inability of the commission to commence the re-configuration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines used for the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections, to enable their use for the state elections,it needs to be transferred to Abuja for re-configuration and later distributes to each unit.
According to INEC, "the election were postponed to allow more time for preparation,they also said that they will make sure that everything is in order before march 18th 2023.
