SELENA GOMEZ EARLY LIFE AND CAREER
Observing her mother practicing for performances throughout her upbringing, Selena spent countless hours in admiration. When she was only seven years old, Selena obtained her first acting opportunity in the well-known Barney and Friends television show, and later on in Spy Kids 3D: Game Over.
Through a countrywide casting search, Disney Channel discovered her extraordinary abilities. Her initial involvement in the channel was as a guest star in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Hannah Montana. Blessed with unusual potential, Selena was granted her very own production as one of three kid wizards in Wizards of Waverly Place.
In addition to her television aspirations, Selena was able to snag some smaller roles in movies such as Another Cinderella Story and Horton Hears a Who!. As Selena's friend and fellow teenage star Demi Lovato started to rise in popularity, it helped Selena's career at Disney. The two best friends even starred together in a TV movie titled Princess Protection Program. Disney's success with Selena's TV show led to them ordering the production of the movie "Wizards of Waverly Place"
Following that, Selena was dubbed the Disney darling and was renowned for her acting career. Besides her passion for acting, Selena found her calling in singing, recording for Disneymania and the Another Cinderella Story soundtrack. After declaring her farewell from Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena continued to receive movie opportunities such as Monte Carlo and 13 Reasons Why. She is also recognized for her humanitarian endeavors as an ambassador for UNICEF. Selena has committed herself to various projects, including securing clean water for Ghana and promoting environmental awareness for children via Disney's Friends for Change campaign.
Selena ventured into the business realm by establishing July Moon Productions, a production house, and launching Dream Out Loud, a clothing brand. Staying true to her passion for the environment, the line incorporates sustainable and recycled materials.
In the year 2009, the recording process for Selena Gomez and the Scene's second studio album commenced. Come September 2010, their toil yielded fruit with the release of their album titled A Year Without Rain. This album superseded their previous works on Billboard 200. Selena's spotlight didn't only shine on her music career, as rumors about her romantic relationship with fellow Disney star Nick Jonas were circulated; however, distance eventually separated them.
Selena had a noteworthy romance with Justin Bieber, which garnered a lot of attention. During the height of their careers, the two made various public appearances together. In 2011, Selena started to promote her third studio album by dropping the single Who Says.

Selena's success with her single Bad Liar led to the release of two more singles, Fetish and Wolves, the latter of which was a collaboration with Marshmello. These two new songs were also met with high praise from fans of Selena's music.
Selena kept her fans updated on her lupus battle apart from releasing three new singles that year. The singer took to Instagram in September to reveal that her friend, actress Francia Raisa, had donated her kidney for Selena's transplant surgery. Unfortunately, a damaged artery during the procedure led to an emergency surgery where Selena had to replace the artery with a vein from her leg.
It was a relief for her that the emergency proceeded smoothly. Selena was acknowledged as the Billboard Woman of the Year in November for her consistent efforts in empowering young women worldwide to embrace their true selves courageously and speak up fearlessly. Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry were some of the remarkable women who have previously attained this prestigious honor.
Selena had a hectic year in 2018. Besides launching Back to You, her newest single for the 13 Reasons Why season 2 track, she repeated her role as Mavis in Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. The movie premiered in July. The same month, LA prosecutors broke the news of a New Jersey woman being accused of hacking into Selena's email accounts.
Selena collaborated with DJ Snake, Ozuna and Cardi B for Taki Taki in late September. The song went on to claim the top spot on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart and receive several music awards. Selena later checked into a mental health rehabilitation facility after the song's release, but was discharged only a month later
Throughout her recovery period, Selena kept herself in good spirits by spending leisurely moments with friends. As February of 2019 approached, she teamed up with Benny Bianco, Tainy, and J Balvin to produce I Can't Get Enough, before featuring in Jim Jarmusch's The Dead Don't Die. Additionally, she took on an executive producer role for the Netflix docuseries Living Undocumented, which focused on eight vulnerable families residing in the United States who were undocumented.
In October, Selena initiated the marketing for her third album, commencing the unveiling with the lead single called Lose You to Love Me that secured the 15th position on Billboard's Hot 100. Shortly after, she also released another track titled Look at Her Now.
